TradeRate Part3: The Desparation Trades

To satisfy the hungry consumer(s) of Superdraft news and analysis, I present to you the final edition of TradeRate 07-08. You can expect this one to be a bit short on the analysis bit, as I don't want to be too hard on Iffy.

Almost two months ago, the series was started. Part one came a couple of days later. July 29 saw the creation of part two. During the hot/dry days of summer, I attempted to quench your thirst but all I could come up with was this. My apologies to the homo-drafters who were too busy/appalled to comment.

So here we have part three. This may be our best chance to ridicule those who sold it all for a shot at the glory. Care to speculate who Iffy will select with his 8th pick? You know, the pick immediately after Beer Leaguer's 3rd pick? Anyhooo.

Broker Bill trades Joe Corvo (2.5 mil) to Stadnicky for Wade Redden (6.5 mil)

Am I the only one who noticed that the post started with "In an effort to help Stadnicky out of his cap problem..."? Woahhh? Exactly which one of these two is Brian Burke? Seriously?
Anyone heard this story before: "Stadnicky in trouble. Robin Hood bails him out."
Maybe BB had a grand plan in mind, and he did make it into the money and all, but I'm giving Stadnicky 80 pts on this one, mostly to make the car pool interesting tonight!

Part I
Creepy trades rusty anchors: Jagr Liles Ryan (frok) 2008 1st round pick 2008 5th round pick to Iffy for superstars: Cammalleri Plekanek 2008 3rd round pick 2008 10th round pick
Part II (conditional on Part I approval)
Creepy trades: Kopitar 2008 2nd round pick to MILFy for la piece de resistance: St Louis 2008 3rd round pick

I normally wouldn't condone entering a 3-way with your bro and your bro-in-law, but this worked out quite well I think. (I'm talking hockey trades here you pervs.)
Iffy's season was done. Losing Boyle, Williams, Bergeron and a whole bunch of other losers made his team ripe for the picking. The entry fee to the u-pick was pretty steep of course. Creepy picked up two pretty good cheap dudes (except for that one who went to the Falmes) who made room for the Part II of the trade, but he didn't hold on to 2nd. Iffy moved up a fair bit for next year, solidifying his victory in the 08-09 draft.

Iffy = 75 and Creepy = 25.

As for Part II, Mini-Mart didn't do too much, Kopitar is cheap and Kopitarded, and from what I heard, a 2nd rounder is better than a 3rd rounder.
MILFy = 80, Creepy = 20.
Moral of the story: Calgary Intelligence >>>>> Prince Albert Intelligence. Who's gonna argue with that?
Kernel trades: Campbell to Broker Bill for Redden and Visnovsky.
Maybe Robin Hood had some kind of master plan after all. Campbell is a pretty good find, if you don't consider is free agent status. Anyone who ends up with a future Oiler out of the deal, gets to win the trade. BB did make it to 2nd place and win a whole bunch of money, but I guess I just have something against Flames fans.

Kernel = 51, BB= 49

Iffy trades Parise, Ryan and his 5th round pick for the 2008 entry draft to Howie CaughtLeaker for Gagne and his 2nd round pick for the 2008 entry draft.
Here we go again. Iffy using greed to motivate Howie into a bad trade. Howie didn't even hold over Parise you say? Shame shame! In Howie's defence, he was just trying to beat Leaker.
Iffy = 70, Howie = 30
I (MILFy) trade: Roszival and a Seattle Seahawks jersey to Howie CaughtLeaker for Conroy, a Cleveland wedge, and a Nike golf bag.

I don't know anything about these hockey players. What was the purpose of this trade? All I know is that a Cleveland wedge has some value, but I can assure you that it has very little in the hands of MILFy.
Howie=60, MILFy=40
Whatev.

Leaker trades Zubov (4.0), Briere (10.0), 2008 1st (as earned)to Iffy for Spacek (3.475), Keith (1.4), Meszaros (0.9842), Jagr (8.36), 2008 2nd (as earned)
Leaker was in desparate need of defensemen, with Pronger suspended and Zubov out for the remainder of the regular season. He had a big need & greed to get into the money. He also thought that Jagr would outperform Briere. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess.

Iffy=73, Leaker=27
Any arguments on this arbitrary assignment?
Iffy trades McCabe & Creepy's 2008 1st round pick to Stadnicky for Gonchar & 2008 4th round pick
WTF is Iffy doing? Giving up a 1st round pick for a guy who was obviously going to make the top 50 and do nothing to help this year? Stadnicky smelling like roses and still going to win the draft.
Iffy = 20, Stadnicky = 80
Iffy trades Gonchar, 2008 6th as earned, 2008 8th as earned to Leaker for Horcoff, Keith, Wideman, 2008 2nd as earned, Creepy's 2008 4th
Iffy slipped so many TradeRate pills in Leaker's drink that he didn't even feel it this time. If you get an Oiler, you automatically win the trade. If you get an Oiler out of Tim... Not to mention, Iffy got his good players back and upgraded the draft picks.

I'll be generous and give Leaker 3 pts on this one!

There is no doubt, that I mailed this one in. Sue me. Write a letter to the editor. Whatever! Here are the standings:

3-time wins again. Prick.

What else do you want to know? If you added up your draft positions (first pick overall = 1, 3rd pick in the 2nd round = 15) you would start with 605 points in a 12 person draft, regardless of your starting position. After the trades, here is what we've got:

As long as Iffy doesn't turn all those low picks into Stortinis and Godards.

What can you say to that, besides geek, prick and wtf;
Some of us have the balls to try and bounce 3-timer and others.....
I've said it once and I'll say it again all the good players go in the 3rd and 10th round anyway.

zubov out for a month..hehehe

It is interesting Greg rates himself so high eventhough his team sucked ass last year, and his history of drafting well is suspect.

Zubov is done. That guy is as old as dirt and is having his hip replaced.

The high rating is for next year! You guys gotta stop worrying about my past. Oh and thanks for letting me know about Zubov guys. I appreciate your concern. Down here in Calgary where we don't have a professional hockey team, I don't see much hockey news, so thanks. I'll look into it.

Who has time for all this analysis nonsense? Sounds like somebody needs more kids, a more stressful job, more hobbies, some links to good porn sites, etc.

Entertaining though...keep up the fair work!

Greg, may I suggest, less ANALysis, more

BTW, it started out innocently enough. I was searching for some hot homemade bread recipes, and then all of a sudden POW. "This here internet machine sure does do some funny things." My life has never been the same since...
