Sweetening the Pot

Warning: This is a blatent attempt to fill my wallet.

I spent a few minutes at lunch time entering the 1230 regular season NHL games into a massive spreadsheet. After a little bit of sorting and formulating, I present to the Superdraft2006 general managers, the fruits of my labour.

This little excel file summarizes the games per week of each of the NHL teams. I figure that the average Superdraft2006 GM can use this data to generate at least 118 pts for the regular season. Now everyone has a chance to win this thing! All you have to do is make the weekly roster moves to maximize my payout your player games.

I know how much you guys like statistics. Something you may not realize is that each team plays an average of 3.037 games per week through the season. Shocking, I know! The less interesting part is that they don't actually play 3.037 games per week. Some weeks are 3, others are 4, others are 2, and there are even weeks when only 1 game is played. According to the standard deviation weekly number of games, Phoenix has the most variation and Boston is a close second. Tied for 3rd are Chicago, Montreal, and Ottawa. If you have any of these teams, particularly multiple players on them, you could increase your totals by significantly more than 118 pts (where did that number come from anyway?) . Next best teams with variable games per week are Anaheim, Atlanta, Calgary, LA, NYR, Hamilton Pittsburgh, and St Louis. It appears that Carolina, Minnesota and Vancouver have the most boring schedules.

Again, don't despair, proper management can make a difference to your my success.

Your love for stats and excel has no bounds!

But you won't entice me to through away any more of my money since I only have 2 player in my pool from the same team.

1) increase readership through spamming
2) sign up for google ads
3) decrease entry fee
4) increase payouts astronomically
