The Official Holdover Post

Hockey Pool season is just around the corner so it is time to buy your “Pool Guide” of choice and pick your holdovers.

The deadline for picking your holdovers for this years Superdraft is by noon Sunday September 27th. Please post your holdovers in the comments section of this post. This will give everyone enough time to plan for the draft which will happen about one week later depending on everyone’s schedule. Post your picks early if you won't be around at the deadline - you don't have to wait until the last day.
Rules: You can hold over 5 players from your roster last year. You can't hold over the same player 2 years in a row. You can only hold over 2 players who placed in the top 50 for points (65pts or more in the 08/09 season). I think that is it...

NOTE: for some reason our teams have been wiped from Officepools. So if you’re like me and can’t remember who was on your roster don’t panic Greg or Barry will figure it out (I hope).

As for the Draft – Saturday October 3rd is the preferred date. Mark your calendars and cancel any trips or family events you might have planned. Draft will start at 8pm at my house – this will coincide with the Flames vs. Oilers game on Hockey Night in Canada. If for some reason a bunch of you can’t make it we can look at alternate dates (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday night could work). Hockey season starts on October 1st and we will need active rosters in by the following Monday. Let me know if you can't make it to the draft and what day works better for you. If you’re out of town make sure you have access to the internet or pick someone smarter than Greg to pick your team for you.

Salary Cap will be kept the same as last year ($51 million) assuming we have all 12 teams back this year. If people drop out or we get extra teams that number could change.
More details will follow once Greg gets his shit together.

My boss told me that I am the smartest person. Then he gave me a 10% pay cut.

Thanks Bill for organizing this.

I seem to remember something about the cap being too high last season; regardless these are my keepers

Tavares FROK .9m
Selanne F 2m
Souray D 5.5m
Phaneuf D 6.5m
Campbell D 7.1m

I am fine dropping the cap a bit - down to $49 or $50 mil. Guys with a few $7mil plus guys might object. I left it at $51mil because I am lazy no other reason...

I'm back .... after a lengthy absence... just getting back to hockey... I can't believe I didn't finish last... what a shitty team I have. Oh well, on to next year!
Anyhow my keepers are:
D. Heatley
M. Koivu

D. Doughty
E. Johnson

Also, how the hell is Tavares drafted by Barrie already?
Oct. 3 should work for me.... just need an address again!
Thanks for organizing again!

Can't make it to the draft on Saturday, is it possible to do something online Greg as I'll be in Red Deer?

GregO said...

Yes I am sure that we will be doing something online. Bill will have to open up his PornNet for us, as Barry will also not be in attendance. Trent - You available online?

GregO said...

And Reg...

Bill linked his address in the post.

Stadnicky said...

Yes, online is a great idea. I cannot make it for Saturday as well.

GregO said...

oh great - now it needs to be 3-time proof

MILF Hunter said...

I might be available only online for Saturday too. Or maybe not even that. Who wants to pick my team if I go AWOL? I've got lots of cap money to spend...

GregO said...

I suggest we let Tim pick for everyone. We're gonna set some records this year!

I will not be able to make the draft either as I will be in BC. So how does this online deal work??

Broker Bill said...

Yikes... Should we consider an alternate date?

Kernel said...

Hey Tim I like the no defence holdover strategy, but I think you have too many top 50 guys. I only bring it up because I REALLY want Hemsky.

Barry said...

good catch kernel thanks

MILF Hunter said...

That's twice now that McCullough has been busted trying to cheat!!! Is anyone else getting sick of his bullshit? He NEEDS to be penalized...I say he loses his first round pick.

GregO said...

Cheater's never prosper. Leaker's Superdraft Power Ranking (sum of the finish position in the past 4 years) is about 37, so worry not. He can't escape his destiny.

Beer-Leaguer said...

Revision - I do believe the holder list was revised after I chose my holders Setobuchi was not highlighted...I swear...Kernel unfortunately Hemsky will now be available.

Franzen Johan
Filatov Nikita (updated)
Setoguchi Devin
Ovechkin Alexander
Brassard Derick

It's a toss up between Hemsky and Horcoff! (Does he really make $7MM a year or is that a typo?)
