As the trading deadline fast approaches, the Superdraft GM has to ask himself the same question his NHL counterparts are asking. Am I a buyer or a seller? Edmonton appears to be selling, while Calgary looks to be buying. The Flyers are going for that sweep in their season series with the Penguins. I was finishing reading The Rookie this weekend and I came across an interesting passage from the last few pages of the book. I don't remember the quote exactly but it was something like: Flyers fans hate everyone, even themselves. I'm not sure how much truth there is here FMJ? Let me know if you want to borrow the book so you can discuss the idea with your therapist.
The trade deadline for the NHL is Tuesday February 27 at 13:00 Calgary time. This will be the same for Superdraft. In order for a trade to be valid, it must be approved by two independent GMs by the deadline.
For Superdraft, the last possible dates for trades to become effective is March 5. Please specify your effective date in your trade postings. Also remember, that you may not trade yourself into salary cap overdraft without being subject to financial penalty. Perhaps the penalty would be worthwhile? Refer to the rules link on the resources page.
While you are checking out the rules, don't forget to brush up on the holdover restrictions.
There appear to be four (4) separate races going on in Superdraft2006.- There is the race for 1st, with Stadnicky approximately 10 pts back recently making a power trade.
- I also noticed the race for 3rd, with Outlaw's starting to look like a seller? Has he given up on the money, or just given up too much to Stadnicky?
- Don't forget the race for the draft picks. Leaker is gunning for 4th-from-last, trying to redeem himself from last year's disgraceful performance. Perhaps this has something to do with those boozy side-bets.
- The race nobody is noticing is the race to exhibit the lowest amount of interest in Superdraft2006. There are a couple of guys floating in no-man's land, not having made moves for weeks, even with multiple injuries on the bench. Look for these guys to be serious sellers!
The weekly update (for the past two weeks) is available on the resources page. With only one week to the trading deadline, let the bidding begin!
UPDATE:
This is what I'm talkin' about.
