It was $21M after holdover declaration, about $22M after Rookie Brule, then "straight to McKeens for the two highest ranked forwards" (Elias & Sullivan) leaving approximately $8M for the remaining 7 players. No problem...
No problem if you have a correct database. Iffy made some bad salary assumptions that he didn't remember were assumptions at the time of picking. Sami Kapanan at $0.45? Karel Rachunek at $0.45? Total spent of approximately $41M? I don't think so! Perhaps this explains the raised eyebrows from Chadwick across the table.
How about Kapanan at $1.52 and Rachunek at $1.8 (not on NHLPA) for a MILFY team of about $43.6M!
Now what are we gonna do about this? Hopefully Brian finds out about this now that it is posted! (I'm not holding my breath.) Perhaps someone else is looking to take on a bit of salary for one of Brian's superstars? Make him an offer.
I must admit that I feel partially responsible for this problem. The player drop rules look particularly onerous as I try to put them into practice, so I may have to revisit those. I'm open to suggestions on this one.
For now we are going to extend the deadline for meeting the salary cap to Monday October 9 @ 13:00 Calgary time. By that time, I hope that NHLPA has all the correct salaries up.
Good luck MILFY!

BTW - I once proved the theory that MILF is a sucker for late night Guerin trades ...
Being as how he didn't actually make the mistake, I think we should go a little soft on him (at least I drafted my own bonehead mistakes last year and was allowed to correct them - with a penalty). Why can't we allow him to drop AND pick up a player who wasn't drafted before tomorrows games begin?
Reg - I appreciate your comments. It got me thinking of last year's events and working on a new post.
