Interesting story. That actually happened to me today. No little warning though like on this picture. Needless to say, I'm not grossed out by this anymore.
Since I am such a nice guy I would be willing to take Barker off FMJ's hands for a player with two working legs. But FMJ doesn't have a lot of cap room to work with...
Smid would never do. Bill takes the Battle of Alberta far too seriously.
How about Matt Carle for $1M cold hard cash in my full service, fee-free brokerage account, and a promise to never tell me how far down CNQ is before 10am, prompting me to sell my Jan 56's and to write Nov 56 covered calls on my shares. Jerk :)
When I read the rules, that's not what I see. The no rookie pick-up has to do with point #2 (REG rule) where the GM can't field a team after draft day. Rookies are fair game on scheduled free agent drafts.
Who knows why people pick the way they pick. Some people holdover old guys with bad knees and no contracts!
Please have another look at the rules on the superdraft resources page. Unless you find something that I can't see, I think we have to allow rookie pick-ups this year.
Let me know and I'll record it as a discussion point for next year's rule changes.
No surprise that I am going to side with Greg on this one. I would however prefer to trade for a rookie D-man as long as the price is right (Looking for something better than Greg's $1million + a life of servitude offer)

Broker Bill, looking for a Rookie D man, how about Smid; For wideman, osullivan and you cover osullivan's salary for this season.
Tempting but I will probably wait until the Free Agent draft and pick one without getting screwed.

Oh, and I'll need 1000 POT.
LMAO! fee-free got you to sell your CNQ which is up nicely right now. All my fee clients are still long the stock. :P
so that's a no?
Was just thinking about that rookie deal; And sorry Broker/Iffy you can't pickup a rookie!
Hey Creep,

Iffy
it may not be in the rules as you read them but i was sure it was not an option; Why else would i have drafted 2 of them? (fmj picked 3.... etc).

Okay, I'm letting you know.... I have no proof but im sure we discussed it, o well I can still kick you asses!
Bill if you still want a deal this is as far as i can go for my rookie D; Smid for Wideman and you cover the .5 for wideman.
Okay I will agree to that deal if we can get some GM approval.
Smid for Wideman and I eat Wideman's salary ($475,280 according to the spreadsheet) for this year.
Agreed?
deal; post for approval.
